What are Fillings?

We aim to restore the function, integrity and morphology of the missing tooth structure with dental fillings resulting from caries and trauma. With fillings, we maintain the vitality and strength of the tooth by avoiding damage to the nerves and structure which may cause the tooth to weaken and break. The restoration process has two main steps: preparing the tooth and cleaning the cavity ,and placement of the restoration material.

Commonly used restoration materials nowadays are: amalgam (metal colored material) and dental composites and porcelain (tooth colored materials). Common complications from restorations are irritation of the nerve and weakening of the tooth structure if the caries is deep and widespread. In these cases, we usually suggest partial or full coverage of the tooth with dental crowns.
